Daybook used to record financial transactions of John Doggett, who was a carver, gilder, cabinet and looking glass maker.
On inside first full opened page it reads: "John Doggett's Day Book, January 1st, 1810". This book ends on July 25, 1814.
Doggett kept accurate record books not only of financial transactions, but of the names of the quality craftsmen living around Roxbury and Boston.

Also was used as a scrapbook with articles on politics and commentaries on the Civil war 1862-1868 pasted in. Simon, Aaron, and Aaron Jr's names appear in the record book numerous times. Winterthur Museum has 3 of these day books for other years that Doggett was in business.
