Simon Willard (1753-1848), Roxbury, Massachusetts, ca. 1810, "Brides clock"
Painted iron dial 7 7/8” d, with Roman numerals, open minute track with red minute markings. Winds at 2:00 position. Dial attached to the case by three "L" shaped turns. Barbed style steel hands.
Mahogany cased timepiece with gilded wood finial. Cast brass bezel and side rails. Bezel has large hinge and the glass is retained by three clips. Side rails are pinned through the diamond. Gilded frames with applied rope decoration. Gilded bracket. The geometric white, rose and gold tablets are in mint condition and are sighed on the reverse side "Willard & Nolan/Boston" "No 5 White." The exterior of the case is painted white and the interior has a pink wash.
Eight-day timepiece with brass plates and wheels, steel pinions and recoil escapement with a T-bridge suspension. Brass-faced lead pendulum bob with an iron rod. Lead weight.
