Join Robert Cheney at the Willard House for a talk filled with information and suggestions of how best to tackle the daunting task of downsizing Grandma, (or anyone else), to make way for a move to a smaller home, a different lifestyle, assisted living or possibly, after a loved one’s passing. Cheney says, “It is a chore faced by practically every family sooner or later and no one enjoys the exercise.”
Robert will describe ways to make this process a lot easier, or at least, a lot more informed.
Cheney will draw on his past career as Director of the Clocks, Watches and Scientific Instruments Department at Skinner Inc., the international auction house with offices in Marlborough, Maine, Boston, New York, and Miami.
In the never-ending search to find exciting consignments to offer in his twice-yearly auctions at Skinner, he helped hundreds of families with making sense of what to do with a hundred years of accumulation or the many fine collections found in old family homes. The task to make it all go away, either by distribution to family members and friends, auction sales, charitable giving, and, yes, maybe a trip to the good ole’ trusty dumpster in the driveway.
